Round 2 of the 1/10 EP Indonesian National Championship was held at the Sunter International Speedway which was re-asphalted the prevoius week. Approximately 50 drivers attended, primarily in the 11.5 T Stock Touring class. The weather started as clear and hot, and we hoped it would stay like that until the end of the race. The track layout was fast flowing and I decided to use a lower final drive ratio and tried a soft setup for the qualifying run. The first run went well but I felt that the car was too lean.

I increased the downstop. The track was getting hotter and my car was going better, but my tyres were going to overheat because of the temperature. I did not improve in Q2 or Q3. I was still able to take the TQ spot, 5sec ahead of last yearâ™s national champion Teddy Syach. Suwardi Suliandy took 5th position followed by Asdi in 6th, Andhyka in 7th and Chandra Yosef in 10th place. It was nice to see 5 XRAYs in the A-main Final.
In A-final run 1, I planned to not push hard from the start. My plan went well and I was able to keep a 2-3sec gap ahead of Teddy in 2nd place. In the 4th minute, Teddy's car was getting slippery and I was able to increase the gap. It was not a good run for Asdi since he had trouble with his speedo, and also not good for Suwardi (who made some mistakes) and Chandra (who had trouble with his transponder).
It was good to see Andhyka take 3rd place from a 7th position start, and he kept it until the end. I ended the A-final run 1 in 1st place with 28 laps @ 5.08, followed by Teddy with 27 laps @ 5.01 and Andhyka, 9 seconds behind Teddy.
I decided to try the LTC-R body shell for the second run. However, rain poured down and the race organizer decided to stop the race and took the overall results from the A-final run 1 results.
I would like to give many thanks to God, my father, Mr. Harris Jacob Saleh, Mr. Suwardi Suliandy and also to XRAY. We'll see even better achievements in the next series from Team XRAY Indonesia.
